A native of Yonkers, New York, Joel Thomas (affectionately known as “Chef Jojo”) has been a fixture in the Capital Region food scene since 2012.  He began his culinary arts career as an apprentice of Chef JR Robinson, Executive Chef and founder of KitchenCray, LLC. It was under JR's leadership that Chef Jojo developed his culinary skills and expertise.

In addition to Kitchencray, Chef Jojo also worked as the Dietary Chef for the Executive Pastors at Zion Church in Landover, Maryland.  For four years, Chef Jojo served as a Food Educator at Martha's Table, a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. His primary role was getting elementary-aged children excited about healthy eating through food education and fun and engaging cooking activities.

Chef Jojo is committed to creating unforgettable experiences through his exceptional service and delicious food. He is also very passionate about giving back to the community using his culinary gifts, especially to those that are less fortunate.

His culinary inspirations are Chefs Jose Andres, G. Garvin, Andres Hinojosa, Roble' Ali, and of course his mentor, JR Robinson. An avid hockey fan, Chef Jojo hopes to one day cook for his hockey heroes, Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne. Chef Jojo is a prime example of how to walk in your purpose while staying focused and keeping God first.
